Blues
The short film Blues is inspired by the color of blue and what is coloquially referred to as »having the blues«, a phrase which describes a personal feeling of loneliness, melancholy and being out of place. In keeping with this idea, the film depicts a blue girl in a blue world dealing with her inner demons.
Despite these decidedly dark themes the film is ultimately a story about hope and is based on the somewhat paradoxical conclusion that all the negative emotions that we experience in our lives – all the anger, sadness, self-loathing and doubt – are in essence a sign of our humanity and vitality. We might not realize it at times, but I strongly believe that there’s a certain beauty in the struggle and our hardships often carry with them an untapped potential to be the source of something positive.
The world may appear dark and blue ... but isn’t blue a wonderful color?
